Easy-to-use Disabled Parking App integrated with IRMA

Integration with IRMA enables users of the Disabled Parking App to identify themselves in a secure, privacy-friendly way. The app makes parking as easy as possible for people with disabilities.

SIDN Labs publishes metrics study 'The state of .nl'

In the first edition of our report 'The state of .nl', we make SIDN Labs’ DNS measurements readily accessible to a wider audience. As well as discussing the numbers themselves, we put the data in its broader social context. Because the online world is very much a reflection of what’s happening in society.

New system for logo-based detection of malicious domain names successfully piloted

SIDN Labs completes 2 successful pilots of a new system for the logo-based detection of malicious domain names. In the pilots, all 6.2 million .nl domain names are automatically scanned for use of the Dutch national government’s logo and a well-known webshop trust mark.

Cristian Hesselman appointed Professor by the University of Twente

SIDN Labs Director Cristian Hesselman is appointed Professor of Trusted Open Networking at the University of Twente. The appointment is important recognition for both SIDN and Cristian, whose work at UT dovetails perfectly with SIDN’s public role.

At SIDN Inspire 2022, ECP and Thuiswinkel.org launched the Dutch version of ScamCheck: a tool that lets consumers check the probability that a website is unsafe. We partner the initiative.

Marjet van Zuijlen becomes new Chair of SIDN’s Supervisory Board

Marjet van Zuijlen becomes Chair of our Supervisory Board. She succeeds Paul Schnabel, who retires after serving the maximum term of 9 years. Marjet has considerable experience, gained in a range of other supervisory roles.

IPv4 address prices go through the roof

In 2022, a shortage of IPv4 addresses sees them double in price. The primary supply actually ran out years ago. We therefore promote migration to IPv6 to future-proof the internet.

Logo detection added to SIDN BrandGuard

We add logo detection functionality to our domain name monitoring tool. The new feature gives SIDN BrandGuard subscribers information about the use and/or abuse of their logos on .nl websites.

After the pandemic stopped us marking SIDN Fund’s fifth 'birthday', we celebrate the Fund turning 7.5 instead. Since we set it up, the Fund has supported more than 300 projects: exciting initiatives that help to make the internet stronger.

PathVis from SIDN Labs visualises the routes that data takes across the internet

Most internet users don’t know how their data crosses the internet from source to destination. So SIDN Labs introduces PathVis – a tool that visualises internet routing information – and makes the source code available to other researchers.
