We launched a learning platform where online and offline methods are integrated to give stakeholders the chance to independently boost their expertise on a range of technical subjects.

SIDN sells its stake in Connectis

Signicat and Connectis joined forces to create a major European player on the digital ID market. Over the previous three years, we invested significantly in Connectis. Particular attention was given to operational professionalisation, service enhancement and preparing Connectis for the next phase of its development.

SIDN and Currence team up to fight fake webshops

We devote a lot of time and effort to getting malicious webshops taken down. We linked up with Currence, the company behind iDEAL, to do an initial fake webshop detection study. "Without a domain name, a scam site isn't findable and without a payment mechanism it can't take your money."

Number of registered .nl domain names hits six million

In response to coronavirus restrictions, many people started new online activities, with the result that the historic milestone was passed much sooner than expected.

SIDN and RA team up to give hosting firms insight into security status of their platforms

In order to maximise and maintain the security of their technical infrastructures, hosting service providers need a clear picture of any weak spots. We therefore launched the Hosting Infrascan, to help the hosting sector make the internet more secure.

Strong internet initiatives for tackling the coronavirus crisis

SIDN Fund made a special call for proposals: 'Internet Against Corona'. Grant applications were invited for internet projects to tackle the coronavirus crisis. The Fund's intention was to promote strong online solutions capable of easing the crisis.

DEX helps us deal with domain name abuse thoroughly and efficiently

At SIDN, we attach great importance to the security of the .nl domain. So we always process abuse reports as quickly as we can. After a year of development at SIDN Labs, we rolled out a new tool called DEX to help our Support team investigate suspect domain names.

IRMA added to Connectis Identity Broker

Connectis, one of the Netherlands' leading providers of secure login solutions, added IRMA support to its Identity Broker. Online service providers that use the Broker have since been able to give customers the option of using IRMA to log in. Connectis was the first identity brokerage to offer IRMA support.

'Responsible internet' concept launched

To help solve the problem of declining 'digital sovereignty', we partnered with a group of other research centres to develop the concept of a 'responsible internet'. The new concept involves a fundamental change to the internet infrastructure, providing users with new levels of insight into and control over their internet communications.

Our first livestream event: SIDN Inspire

As a replacement for our annual SIDN Connect networking event, we held the SIDN Inspire live streaming event on 26 November. In a varied show, Chris van 't Hof and Roelof Meijer discussed trends and developments with cybersecurity expert Jaya Baloo, Dutch Enterprise Foundation co-founder en Vice-chair Mirjam Bink, journalist and economist Mathijs Bouman and trendwatcher Farid Tabarki.

Registrars give our services 8.3 out of ten

Personal contact was the main factor driving the high levels of satisfaction, as it has been for several years. Our support team was given an average score of 8.6 as well. While the results are pleasingly positive, the survey also highlighted a few things that we'll be looking to improve in the period ahead. Registrars want to see improvements implemented more quickly, for example.
